NBC's long-running procedural drama resumes its ongoing chronicles of the NYPD detectives who investigate homicides, and the District Attorney staff that prosecutes them, in this fifth season of "Law & Order." Returning characters this season include Det. Logan (Chris Noth), DA Adam Schiff (Steven Hill), Senior Detective Lennie Briscoe (Jerry Orbach), detective supervisor Anita Van Buren (S. Epatha Merkerson) and ADA Claire Kincaid (Jill Hennessy), while heavyweight Sam Waterston makes his series debut as Executive ADA Jack McCoy.
