Showtime Reveals Black Monday Season 2 Trailer and Premiere Date

Amid the flurry of news coming out of Showtime's presentation at the Television Critics Association winter tour on Monday, the network revealed the premiere date and trailer for Season 2 of the acclaimed comedy Black Monday. The 10-episode second season will debut with back-to-back episodes on Sunday, March 15 at 10/9c. The series will air two episodes every week.

The first season of Black Monday followed Maurice "Mo" Monroe (Emmy nominee Don Cheadle) as he and his fellow outsiders took on the old-boys club of 1987 Wall Street, which led to the largest stock market crash in history, known as Black Monday. Season 2 will depict the aftermath of those events. When the show returns, Mo is on the run with Keith, who, according to portrayer Paul Scheer, spends the season "in the shortest shorts imaginable, and a mesh tank when I was lucky."

Meanwhile, Dawn (Regina Hall) and Blair (Andrew Rannells) are now the bosses. However, they quickly learn how difficult things can be at the top. "The exciting part about doing the second season was we sort of left Blair at the end of Season 1 on the precipice of making a lot of personal decisions," Rannells said during the show's panel, "and then this season we really got to launch into them. He gets dark real fast."

Season 2 is also an embarrassment of riches in terms of guest stars. Appearing in Season 2 are Tuc Watkins (The Boys In the Band) as Congressman Harris, a leading voice of the moral majority; June Diane Raphael (Grace and Frankie) as his ultra-conservative wife, Corkie; Dulé Hill (Suits) as Marcus Wainwright III, president of the African-American Scholarship Fund; and Patrick Fabian (Better Call Saul) as New York Governor Putnam. Meanwhile, recurring guest stars include Yassir Lester (Making History), Ken Marino (Wet Hot American Summer), Horatio Sanz (GLOW), and Casey Wilson (Mrs. Fletcher, Happy Endings).

According to Scheer, the addition of the new characters really helps the show widen its point of view in the second season. "The first episode of the season, we're starting in Miami, D.C., and New York. That kind of gives you the lay of the land. There's so many more characters coming in, and all of our guest stars don't just play a role or they pop in for an episode. They really are seeded throughout the whole season."

Showtime also announced return dates for Billions andThe Chi, the premiere date for new series Penny Dreadful: City of Angels, and released the first look at the final season of Homeland. It also renewed The L Word: Generation Q and Work in Progressfor second seasons.

Black Monday Season 2 premieres Sunday, March 15 at 10/9c on Showtime.
