Newspaper sex columnist Carrie Bradshaw draws on her own experiences and those of her friends, in particular cynical Miranda, hedonistic Samantha and prudish Charlotte, to document the highs, lows and woes of dating. The series opens with Carrie vowing to stop searching for Mr. Right and instead make do (and love) with Mr. Right Now. But her plan to stay emotionally detached soon falls by the wayside when she meets the elusive Mr. Big, who comes in and out of Carrie's life.
