10 Episodes 2017 - 2017
In Season 1 of "Shots Fired," a black police officer, Joshua Beck (Tristan Mack Wilds), shoots and kills an apparently unarmed white man during a routine traffic stop in a predominantly black neighborhood. An investigation begins and, through the work of prosecutor Preston Terry (Stephan James) and his partner Ashe Akino (Sanaa Lathan), it becomes clear that a shooting of a black teenager in the same neighborhood has been swept under the carpet despite rumors of police involvement. Elsewhere, as the tensions in the two cases ramp up, Ashe and Preston's personal relationships start to cause problems with their ability to work together and risk derailing their investigation, while local Pastor Janae James (Aisha Hinds) puts pressure on Governor Patricia Eamons (Helen Hunt) to do more for the black community in her state.
