Recalling Leroy Anderson (1908-75), the composer of such light classics as "Blue Tango," "The Syncopated Clock," "The Typewriter" and "Sleigh Ride." Anderson might not be well known but, says choreographer Mark Morris, "everybody knows this music." The profile features his tunes performed by the Boston Pops in 1972, as well as clips of Anderson performing "Blue Tango" on "The Ed Sullivan Show" in 1952, and Steve Allen teaching Sullivan to play "The Syncopated Clock" on Sullivan's show in 1962.
