Supernatural is by no means over; One Tree Hill still is. "It is not intended to be the last season" of Supernatural, Pedowitz told reporters Thursday at the network's fall TV preview. That said, "we'll see where the ratings go." He added that CW executives want the show — which, he said, is "no longer about the demon of the week but the love of two brothers" — to continue beyond Season 7.

CW Entertainment President Dawn Ostroff is expected to step down at the end of the current TV season, Deadline reports. According to the site, Ostroff plans to leave at the end of her contract in June in order to...

TBS had made a long-term investment in Are We There Yet? The network has ordered 90 additional episodes of Are We There Yet?, which stars Terry Crews (Everybody Hates Chris) and Essence Atkins (Half & Half). A spinoff of the 2005 film starring...

Jeers to Are We There Yet? for typecasting Terry Crews. Taking over Ice Cube's big-screen role as a put-upon stepfather Nick Parsons in TBS' watered-down new sitcom, Crews is essentially rehashing his grumpy-dad shtick from the vastly superior 2005-2009 comedy Everybody Hates Chris...

Terry Crews has some news about single guys: "They're pretty selfish!" laughs the NFL pro—turned—actor, who tackles the role of newlywed Nick Kingston-Persons in Are We There Yet?, a new TBS sitcom based on the 2005 movie about a bachelor's road trip with his girlfriend's kids premiering Wednesday at 9/8c on TBS...

While flipping through the channels the other day, we stumbled upon an episode of the hilarious Everybody Hates Chris and were shocked to see how much lead actor Tyler James Williams had grown — not to mention how deep his voice has gotten. Will it be too weird when his grown-up voice doesn't match that of Chris Rock, who provides the adult Chris's voiceovers?

Prime-time TV has a "serious shortage," of minority characters, the NAACP says in a new report, calling the problem part of an industry-wide oversight. Says NAACP president/CEO Benjamin Todd Jealous, "At a time when the country is excited about the election of the first African-American president in U.S. history, it is unthinkable ...

How Friday's fare... fared: 8 pm/ET Ghost Whisperer was the evening's most-watched program, delivering 9.3 million total viewers, a seven percent increase over its year-ago opener. 5th Grader (5.8 mil) was a distant second, followed by Wife Swap, Toughest Jobs and the CW's returning comedy combo of Everybody Hates Chris (2.09 mil) and The Game (1.91 mil). 9 pm This is where Moonlight fans will be tempted to say, "Told you so!" The Ex List topped the first half-hour with 7.2 mil (or 73 percent retention coming immediately out of GW), but then ceded the lead to Deal or No Deal during its back half, dropping to 6.49 mil. Moonlight, Les Moonves will scold me for reminding you, premiered a year ago to 8.63 mil and even mustered 7.56 mil in its May finale. That said, the luminous Ms. Reaser appears to have drawn slightly better demos. Elsewhere, Fox's Lyrics (4.35 mil) edged out ABC's Supernanny (4.19 mil). 10 pm Numbers' numbers were down a mil from its previous premiere, but it still came out on top with 8.13 mil. 20/20 followed with 6.34 mil, while NBC's Life (5.44 mil) was down 24 percent from its Monday premiere (the first of two "special" Monday airings).

Nick at Nite has purchased the basic-cable-TV rights to the CW's Everybody Hates Chris. The family sitcom, which is based on comedian Chris Rock's Brooklyn upbringing, will start airing on Nickelodeon's prime-time programming block in the fall of 2009, joining other such sitcoms as Home Improvement, George Lopez and Roseanne. I have to be honest: I've never seen Rock's sitcom, though I've heard great things from my TV-critic friends. Plus, I have faith in the taste of the folks over at Nickelodeon, who, over the years, have brought us reruns of The Facts of Life, Diff'rent Strokes, Mad About You, The Cosby Show, Murphy Brown, Family Ties, Growing Pains and Designing Women.Which begs the question: Which current sitcom would you like to see on Nick at Nite? My vote: While it's technically not a sitcom, Brothers & Sisters packs more laughs into each one-hour episode than the average season of According to Jim. Your turn.... — Mickey O'Connor

Question: Black TV. It exists. Can we please get Everybody Hates Chris, Girlfriends and The Game listed on the Strike Countdown Chart? Answer: I'll see your race card and raise you one ambiguously gay alien. In addition to EHC, Girlfriends and The Game, I've added Kyle XY.
This Monday, as a two-hour (!) Dancing with the Stars averaged 20.34 million total viewers:8 pm/ETPlacing second was Chuck (8.22 million), albeit down a mil from its debut. CBS' Mother (7.88 mil, -400K) and Big Bang (8.58 mil, down a mil) each slipped. Prison Break held steady with 7.22 mil. The CW's Everybody Hates Chris (2.58 mil) was up 140 thou from last fall's premiere, while lead-out Aliens in America (with 2.33 mil) did not at all "terror"-bly, matching All of Us' 2006 opener.9 pmCBS' Men (13.4 mil) was on par with last week, but Rules (10.5 million) disengaged some 1.5 mil viewers. Drawing 11.94 mil, Heroes saw 15 percent of its premiere audience fly away. (Is Peter's new storyline using leftover Black Donnellys scripts and sets? I digress.) K-Ville (5.48 mil) KO'd another 680 thou. On tonight's Everybody Hates Chris (8 pm/ET, CW), Chris Rock, playing a guidance counselor, asks his student, "What do you want to do when you get out of school?" Not an unfair question, right? But if you can't hear the vague menace behind the concern, then you've never been an unfocused, troubled kid. And you've definitely never been Chris Rock. The comic turned sitcom producer, whose rocky school days inspired the semiautobiographical Everybody Hates Chris, makes his first-ever guest appearance on the CW series. Rock is Mr. Abbott, the counselor assigned to Chris (Tyler James Williams) after the kid all but blows his eighth-grade exams. Actually, Mr. Abbott is more of a misguidance counselor. Jaded, disinterested and a bit prejudice

It takes Diff'rent Strokes to move the world, and nobody knows that better than Todd Bridges. Tonight, he begins a recurring gig as a crazed ex-military man named Monk on Everybody Hates Chris (8 pm/ET, on the CW), so we had to see what the former Willis Drummond is talkin' 'bout these days. TV Guide: From Skating with Celebrities [see the 2006 Q&A] to working with

Everybody Hates Chris (with six) and Dreamgirls (seven) earned the most nominations in their respective fields when the NAACP Image Award nominations were revealed on Tuesday. Chris' kudos include noms for best comedy series, lead actors Tyler James Williams and Tichina Arnold, and supporting stars Terry Crews and Antonio Fargas, while Dreamgirls netted nods for best film, leads Beyoncé Knowles and Jamie Foxx, and supporting players Anika Noni Rose, Jennifer Hudson, Danny Glover and Eddie Murphy.
CBS' Numbers and the CW's Everybody Hates Chris took top honors Wednesday at the eighth-annual Family Television Awards. Among the other winners: Dancing with the Stars (in the reality-show category), Ugly Betty (new series), Ghost Whisperer Jennifer Love Hewitt (for fostering early-onset puberty), Monk's Tony Shalhoub and Deal-maker Howie Mandel.
As Ms. Morello, the terminally Caucasian teacher on CW's Everybody Hates Chris (Mondays at 8 pm/ET), Jacqueline Mazarella earns laughs with racist quips that would land celebrities like Michael Richards in hot water. To (in)cite but a few examples, Ms. Morello, in an attempt to relate to Corleone Junior High's lone black student, has proudly pumped a black power fist, brought cans of food to his "ghetto" home at Christmas, and dubbed him a "sweet sweetback." Although Mazarella isn't a series regular, the TV newcomer is thrilled that her character has become one of the show's funniest, most wince-inducing recurring characters. TVGuide.com: Everybody Hates Chris has been your big TV break. How did you land the part?

It's a November to remember for Wayne Brady, who already has an Everybody Hates Chris appearance under his belt, and next turns up on The N's The Brandon T. Jackson Show (premiering Friday, Nov. 24, at 9 pm/ET), followed by the CBS hitcom How I Met Your Mother (Mondays at 8), playing no less than Barney's brother. But enough with the exposition-filled intro, on with the interview! TVGuide.com: You have a lot of stuff going on these days!Wayne Brady: Well, that's always a good thing. TVGuide.com: First up, give me an overview of The Brandon T. Jackson Show. What's it going to be like?Brady: The Brandon T. Jackson Show is a younger, fast-paced sketch show.

This Monday's milestones....— Gaining 500,000 total viewers versus last week, Prison Break (8.97 million) had its best outing since Sept. 18. Similarly going to school on repeats of Wife Swap and How I Met Your Mother was CW's Everybody Hates Chris, which hit a season high with 3.56 mil.— With a 500K week-to-week gain, Heroes set a new series high of 14.73 mil.— Justice was up 300,000, but even at 6.5 million is still shy of its former Wednesday audience.— A special "one-time" (uh-huh... ) Monday outing of Friday Night Lights averaged 8.29 million total viewers, the freshman drama's best numbers ever, by a full million, and NBC's best performance in that 10 pm slot since the Oct. 9 Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip. (Mind you, that was opposite a CSI: Miami repeat and, well, What About Brian.)FNL fans, be sure not to miss today's Interviews & Features Q&A with exec producer Jason Katims.
With Dad's day almost upon us — Sunday, June 18, if you still need to run out and grab a card — your favorite stars from Desperate Housewives, Prison Break, Without a Trace and more share their best bits of fatherly wisdom. The Television Critics Assoc. (of which I'm a member) just came out with its 2006 TCA Award nominations and, save for the Battlestar Galactica snub, it's a pretty fraktastic lineup. I'm especially jazzed that after years of checking off Lauren Graham's name, our girl finally made the cut. Ditto Scrubs. With any luck, both will prevail on July 23 when the trophies are handed out. (FYI: If the TCA brass are reading this, I've got dibbs on presenting Lauren with her award if she wins. C'mon, it's a no-brainer.) A list of the major nominees are below. See if you can guess who I'm voting for.INDIVIDUAL ACHIEVEMENT IN COMEDYSteve Carell (The Office) Stephen Colbert (The Colbert Report) Lauren Graham (Gilmore Girls) Jason Lee (My Name Is Earl) Jon Stewart (The Daily Show) INDIVIDUAL ACHIEVEMENT IN DRAMAAlan Alda (The West Wing) James Gandolfini (The Sopranos) Hugh Laurie (House) Kiefer Sutherland (24) Kyra Sedgwick (The Closer) OUTSTANDING NEW PROGRAM OF THE YEAR Big Love (HBO) The Colbert...
Aside from that egregious Everwood snub, CW's fall schedule is close to perfect. Monday: 7th Heaven, RunawayTuesday: Gilmore Girls, Veronica MarsWednesday: Top Model/Beauty and Geek, One Tree HillThursday: Smallville, SupernaturalFriday: WrestlingSunday: Everybody Hates Chris, All of Us, Girlfriends, The GameAlso, Reba received a last-minute 13-episode reprieve, which pretty much means Everwood is the only bubble show that didn't make the cut. Dawn Ostroff's got some explainin' to do.Speaking of Everwood, I've been trading e-mails with exec producer Rina Mimoun and she wanted to offer a "final thank you to all our fans for all their hard work and effort. I'd love to give a giant cyberhug to everyone who has been so amazing to us."The one silver lining here is that, as you know, Mimoun and her team prepared for the worst and shot an alternate series-finale ending. So at the very least, our beloved Everwood will get a fitting send-off. Little consolation, I know.Off to Madison Square ...
Everybody Hates Chris Is it just me or is each episode of Chris getting a little more surreal? The quick movie clips that punctuate the proceedings are old hat. But tonight there was an extended Young and the Restless fantasy sequence that included the soap's soppy theme song. (I'm going to have it stuck in my head for a week, I just know it). And later there was a CSI-like spoof in the science room that used that show’s saturated colors effect. I learned something new tonight: the definition of gout. Old folks are always griping about that ailment. Did you happen to notice the size of that TV remote control Julius used when he stayed
Everybody Hates ChrisA double dose of Chris tonight, although both were repeats. But that's OK, the writing was strong enough to make me laugh the second time around. The bike episode reminded me that Rochelle is completely nuts. Why was she freaking out just because Julius cooked and cleaned better than she did? Honey, enjoy yourself! As a Jewish girl who orders in Chinese every night and has a maid, I would love it if my husband could take care of me like that. Rochelle also scared me with her business fashion. Those '80s shirts that tied at the collar, ewwww. Why did we ever burn bras? We should have just burned those blouses. (At least bras have a purpose.) There was a Do the Right Thing riot clip (yes, Gabe, as per your astute
Everybody Hates ChrisThis episode was about my two favorite childhood things: video games and candy. Back in the '80s, I'd chug Pop Rocks as I played Pong on my Atari 800 while wearing my homemade Star Trek uniform. (Sci-fi was my third favorite thing.) Even geeks have something they're good at, and tonight we found out that Chris could kick ass at Asteroids. Now for the kids at home whose idea of video games is Halo, Grand Theft Auto or even the Teletubbies (yes, they have a game), Asteroids must have looked like it was programmed by Cro-Magnons — those little ships resemble cave paintings. Ah, how things have changed. For my generation, watching this show is like reading Proust's Remembrance of Things Past (OK, the C
Everybody Hates ChrisI was psyched to see Raven Goodwin as Chris' "bus crush." I absolutely adore her (and no, it's not because we have the same first name). I've been a fan ever since I saw her play a heavyset, adopted child with a horrendous body image in the indie flick Lovely & Amazing. It was cool that in Chris, her weight wasn't made into an issue. (Of course, I just turned it into one by bringing it up, huh?) And how fabulously '80s did she look with those big-ass, gold-plated, door-knocker earrings? Very Salt-N-Pepa. Julius was his usual charming if hypocritical self, taking pride in Drew's stack of Valentines but flipping out when Tanya mentioned that she had a boyfriend, a very true-to-life double s
Perhaps no reality-show elimination is as brutally cold as on Fox's Skating with Celebrities (Mondays at 8 pm/ET), where the booted have likely spent weeks sliding their backsides on the ice. The first to lack muster with the judging panel was Diff'rent Strokes alum Todd Bridges, who in this TVGuide.com Q&A sings the praises of his pro partner, opens up about his sobriety, and promises a true Hollywood tell-all the likes of which you cannot imagine. TVGuide.com: You treated Skating with Celebrities viewers to a "Whatcha talkin' 'bout, Willis?" early on. Did you just want to get it out of your system?Todd Bridges: Yeah, I figured if I kill it before anyone

Everybody Hates ChrisCould someone please tell me why the folks at UPN, or the future CW, or whatever the hell we're calling this channel in limbo, showed a rerun of Everybody Hates Chris that I've seen not once but twice already? (Yet they're still showing new episodes of the wretched South Beach. Go figure.) This episode is one of the edgier ones, though, with Chris being tapped for the basketball team strictly because of his race. As Chris Rock says, "This is how Milli Vanilli must have felt when they were walking up to accept that Grammy." It's an amusing conceit that is actually more scary than funny. Of course, short and scrawny Chris sucks at b-ball. If only the coach at Corleone had seen Carbon Copy with Denzel Washing
Talk about changing the channel! According to CNN.com, CBS chairman Les Moonves announced on Tuesday morning that both WB and UPN will cease operations this fall when CBS Corp. will partner with Warner Bros. to create a new broadcast television network. The CW Network — the CW? Just CW? I dunno, it's early — will target the 18-to-34 age group and play host to programming from WB and UPN, including Gilmore Girls and Everybody Hates Chris. OK, Veronica and Clark are, like, so gonna hook up now.

Dancing with the StarsIt sure seemed like the judges were regretting last week's score inflation — not that Drew and Stacy didn't deserve high marks, but now there's little room to mark their improvement. So in addition to handing out lower scores, Carrie Ann, Len and Bruno were downright nitpicky. I like it that way, though; how else would we know that a tango can be too Argentinean? Jerry and Anna: The football player's "go for the jugular" tactic made him look like he was concentrating too hard and not having as much fun as in the first episode, when he didn't take this whole thing so seriously. Lighten up!Giselle and Jonathan: I regret saying anything mean about Giselle last week; in her interviews she's quite likable. Her tango was ki
Everybody Hates ChrisOne of best things about watching this show is listening to its '80s sound track. This week we heard Lionel Ritchie's "All Night Long," Kurtis Blow's "Tough" and Tears for Fears' "Everybody Wants to Rule the World." I'm sure you geeky musicologists out there are griping that the latter was actually released in 1985, two years after the episode takes place. Hey, that's nothing compared to the street montage that included a clear shot of the Toys 'R' Us in Times Square, which was built in 2001. But who watches this sitcom for accuracy? It's not a friggin' documentary. It's only inspired by Chris Rock's childhood. Even the dates are off. (He was born in '65, yet he's supposed to be a high-school freshman in 19
Everybody hates ratings, except perhaps the folks on Everybody Hates Chris (Thursdays at 8 pm/ET). While the family-friendly UPN sitcom inspired by Chris Rock's Brooklyn childhood is not a juggernaut in the grand scheme of prime time, its September premiere was the highest-rated episode of any comedy in the network's history. It also earned a Golden Globe nod for best television series, musical or comedy, but lost to Desperate Housewives. (Bitches.) Tonight the show returns from hiatus with another hilarious and heartwarming episode, in which Chris takes a part-time job delivering newspapers alongside his father, Julius, played by Terry Crews. TVGuid

Everybody Hates ChrisI've never noticed how brown Everybody Hates Chris is (and no, that's not some lame, wannabe Chris Rock ethnic joke), particularly the Rock-family brownstone (oy, sorry about that pun). The sofa, the wallpaper, they're all '70s earth tones, which actually makes sense since the Rocks wouldn't have the money to decorate with the latest '80s fashion — most definitely a good thing. The brand-name toys the kids were hoping for — Cabbage Patch Kids, Atari, Coleco — reminded me of the good ol' days of television when there were commercials, not product placement. Meanwhile, Chris wanted a generic Walkman (how many viewers under 20 had no friggin' idea what he was talking about?). I dug Rochelle's Farrah 'do — apparently the Rocks are so poor, even

Question: I'm sooo angry right now. Mariska Hargitay wasn't nominated for a Golden Globe. What gives? Answer: Now, you know I love my Marish, but she won last year. The Golden Globes have always been about the next big thing, hence the first-time nods for such AA faves as Grey's Anatomy, Patrick Dempsey, Sandra Oh, Matthew Fox, Prison Break, Wentworth Miller, Everybody Hates Chris, My Name Is Earl and Steve Carell. It almost makes up for the absence of Veronica Mars, Lauren Graham, Kelly Bishop, Kristen Bell, Ellen Pompeo, Katherine Heigl, Battlestar Galactica and Mary McDonnell. (I said "almost.")
At the seventh-annual Family Television Awards, which honor outstanding family-friendly viewing, ABC's Lost — whose Shannon and Boone, after all, redefined "family friendly" — was named best drama, CBS' The King of Queens took top comedy, CBS' The Amazing Race won best reality program and UPN's Everybody Hates Chris was declared the best new series.
Question: Can you please tell me the name of the show that was something like American Gladiators? One of the people's names was T-Money. Thank you.Answer: That was the syndicated Battle Dome, which was produced from 1999 to 2001, Sandy. On the show, three contestants competed in various extreme events against a host of fictional warriors, the best two contestants squaring off in a battle for $1,000 and a chance at a $100,000 championship. The warriors' names and personalities demonstrated that someone behind the scenes was definitely paying attention to pro wrestling, American Gladiators, and, most likely, The Running Man and Mortal Kombat to boot. Characters included the Commander, Sleepwalker, D.O.A., Jake Fury, Mad Dog Steele, the Prince and, as you mention, T-Money. Of the lot, former NFL player Terry Crews, who seems to have dropped the T-Money work from his official bio, has
The nominees for the 32nd annual People's Choice Awards were announced yesterday, and sadly, they did not include a face-off between Angelina Jolie and Jennifer Aniston in the Favorite Female Movie Star category. But at least we get to see Angelina and Brad Pitt (Mr. and Mrs. Smith) square off against Owen Wilson and J.An's alleged new beau, Vince Vaughn (Wedding Crashers), for Favorite On-Screen Matchup. On the TV side, Everybody Hates Chris, How I Met Your Mother and My Name Is Earl will vie for fave new comedy series, while Commander in Chief, Criminal Minds and Prison Break will do battle for best new drama. And despite its sophomore creative slump, Desperate Housewives managed to snag a best TV-drama nod. (Wait, I thought Emmy said it was a comedy?) Teri Hatcher, meanwhile,
UPN has given Everybody Hates Chris a full-season commitment of 22 episodes. Despite losing 22 percent of the premiere-night audience for its second airing, the comedy based on Chris Rock's childhood has delivered a significant bump in key demos for UPN on Thursday nights and, more important, led many folks to figure out once and for all what channel UPN is on.

Yeah, I think that one white kid likes him, but that's about it. And look at him now: Chris Rock, funniest person in America. Chris starts off seeming like a cool kid, unless those posters on his wall are his brother's — then I hate him. Anyway, I'm feeling all the shout-outs to the '80s (the good '80s). Let's just say the soundtrack for this pilot probably cost more than the narrator. But let's not get all emotional; I did laugh, and we have much to discuss.... I never laughed out loud, though, and it's not because I was annoyed about the title. And certainly not because I read that the show received a seal of approval from some Family Friendly Programming Forum. In other words, it was clean. Real clean. But funny and real. I'm afraid of Terry Crews' Papa Rock, but "Unplug that clock — you can't tell time when you sleep" is funny forever. I hate to love Tichina Arnold's Mama Rock, even with her Most V
