Reacher Season 5: New Cast, What Book It's Based On, and Everything Else We Know

We're definitely getting more Reacher, but what about his pal Neagley?

Amazon's Reacher -verse just gave us two solid seasons of action-thriller television with Reacher Season 4 and Neagley Season 1. While we don't know yet what's happening with Neagley, the fifth season of Reacher was greenlit, developed, and began production before Season 4 had even premiered. And Prime Video didn't stop there; it also ordered a sixth season of the show. So there are more of these adventures, based on Lee Child's long-running novel series, on the way.

It's not any sort of particular surprise that Amazon would want to continue being in the Reacher business, since the Alan Ritchson series has been among the streamer's biggest hits since it first premiered in 2022. Let's see what we've got coming up.

Reacher Season 5 release date prediction

Since production has been underway since the middle of summer, we should see Reacher Season 5 premiere in 2027 sometime, possibly as early as the summer. This could end up being the shortest gap between seasons so far.

What's Reacher Season 5 about?

Season 5 of Reacher will adapt Make Me, the 20th book in Lee Child's series. This story begins similar to the way Season 1 did — Reacher gets off a bus in a tiny town in Oklahoma called Mother's Rest, and he can immediately tell by the way the locals are acting that there's something weird going on there.

As he investigates, it's not long before he meets a private investigator named Michelle Chang, who's in town looking for her missing partner. Yep, Michelle is Reacher's main sidekick for this adventure. Together, they uncover a dark conspiracy that's so gnarly that series author Lee Child said he isn't sure how they're going to be able to get away with depicting it on the show. We won't spoil the big reveal here, but let's just say that this one gets into torture porn territory, so it's viscerally nasty — but the big twist also packs an emotional weight that will pair well with the exploration of trauma we just went on with Neagley.

It's also a rare Jack Reacher story where Reacher doesn't end up riding off into the sunset by himself, though it won't be until Season 6 that we would find out if that changes anything about the show's status quo — but it didn't end up meaning anything for the books, so maybe don't get your hopes up.

Will Neagley be in this one?

There's been no word about whether Maria Sten is involved, which doesn't necessarily mean anything since we didn't learn about any new main cast members for Season 5 until the upcoming season had been in production for a month. So it's possible, but we don't have any clues either way about Neagley. Things could depend on whether Neagley gets picked up for a second season.

Reacher Season 5 cast

There are four new regular cast members that we know of so far, as reported by Deadline. Amanda Ip will play Michelle Chang, Reacher's impromptu partner for this story. Jay Baruchel (FUBAR), who had to drop out of Season 4, will have a role in Season 5 as Mother's Rest police chief Buck Bauer. Kevin Durand (Locke & Key, The Strain) will play a character called Nokes, and Ciara Bravo (Voicemails for Isabelle) will be Eunice. Michelle Chang is the only one of these characters who appears in the novel, so we don't know what Nokes, Eunice, or Not-Jack Bauer are all about yet. But we'd guess Nokes is a baddie, since Durand is pretty great at playing hammy villains.

Reacher Season 6

In late September 2026, Prime Video ordered a sixth season of Reacher shortly after the conclusion of Season 4, according to The Hollywood Reporter. That's a nice vote of confidence from Prime Video. There are no details on Season 6 yet.
