The houseguests participate in a fish-themed food competition, with the losers eating slop for a week. In the challenge, the six couples are divided into two teams, and players are required to hold a net full of fish. The person who holds the net the longest wins the reward for his or her team. At the nomination ceremony, two couples are put up for eviction.

The friendship between Sheila and Allison is threatened by Sheila's jealousy; two houseguests contend with serious health issues at the same time and both are taken to the hospital; the Power of Veto competition is held and the players are required to connect cables to utility poles to generate power.

The third pair is evicted from the compound and discuss their experience inside the house with host Julie Chen. Next, four couples compete for Head of Household by correctly matching authors with quotes found inside the house.

The houseguests compete in an asparagus-themed food challenge. The guys try to guess their partner's weight and then gather enough asparagus scattered in the backyard to equal their soul mate's weight. If they are within 10 pounds of the correct weight, the whole house wins selected food items. Later, two couples are nominated for eviction.

Four teams compete for the Power of Veto by attempting to solve a puzzle that is suspended in mid-air. The women each wear a harness that is attached to a pulley. The guys hand them puzzle pieces and hoist them up to put the pieces in place. Later, the houseguests learn via a letter that when they hear a siren they must immediately assemble in the living room to learn of a twist in the game.

One couple is selected for eviction, but before they can exit the house they learn that only one of them will be leaving because the pairs will now be playing as individuals and not as couples. Later, the Head of Household competition is held. Julie Chen is the host.

A food competition requires the houseguests, who are divided into two teams, to find letters in a pool of chocolate to spell out food items. The team with the most correctly spelled words wins those food selections for a week. Later, nominations for eviction are announced.

Six houseguests compete in the Power of Veto competition. The players shoot a cue ball on an oversized pool table and attempt to be the one who comes closest to hitting the veto symbol in the middle of the table in order to win. Back in the house, two groups form and try to persuade HOH Ryan to support their candidate for eviction.

The Power of Veto competition is held. The participants are each required to transfer 500 toy blocks from a cage to a tube by walking across a series of balance beams. The first person to accomplish the task without falling off a beam or dropping a block wins.

One houseguest is evicted from the compound. Later, the eight remaining players compete for HOH by fielding questions about previously departed contestants.

The eight houseguests play a "Big Brother" version of blackjack for a chance to win four movie passes. Later, the two nominees for eviction are announced.

Season 8 winner "Evel" Dick Donato returns to host the Power of Veto competition. Posing as a bartender, he doles out unappetizing drinks to the players, who must down them in order to win croquet shots for the second half of the challenge, in which they play croquet. The person with the highest score wins POV.

Another houseguest is evicted from the compound. Following the eviction, six players compete for Head of Household by guessing how viewers responded to questions about the houseguests. Julie Chen is the host.
