Joy Behar will leave The Viewafter 16 years with the ABC daytime talk show, Deadline.com reports.

Behar's contract is set to expire in August, and she has allegedly told the network she does not plan to renew it. Behar is one of the few original castmembers left on the show besides Barbara Walters

Is Joy Behar heading to CNN?

"It seemed like the right time," Behar told the site. "You reach a point when you say to yourself, 'Do I want to keep doing this?' There are other things on my plate I want to do — I've been writing a play, I've been neglecting my standup."

The news comes less than two weeks after reports surfaced that Behar may be heading to CNN. She reportedly met with new CNN president Jeff Zucker, fueling speculation that she may be getting her own show.

TV Scorecard: Renewed or canceled?

"I do like talk shows. I'm interested in talking to people," Behar also told Deadline. "I want to do an intelligent talk show where you have room to breathe."

A former guest host on Larry King Live, Behar hosted a show on CNN's HLN for two years and currently works for Current TV in addition to her job on The View.
