Why don't his colleagues want him back?
On Monday's Gotham, Detective James Gordon returns to his old stomping grounds at the GCPD -- but he's not entirely welcome.
As Capt. Essen (Zabryna Guevara) briefs her troops about "grave public menace" Jack Gruber (guest star Christopher Heyerdahl) -- the man who escaped Arkham on Gordon's watch in the previous episode -- Gordon (Ben McKenzie) shows up unannounced demanding to be allowed to see the case through.

There's just one problem: Police Commissioner Loeb (Peter Scolari), who blames Gordon for the screw-up in the first place, is on his way to the precinct, and neither Essen nor Bullock (Donal Logue) want Jim there when he arrives. But of course, that doesn't happen.
In the exclusive sneak peek below, Gordon squares off with the man whose job he'll one day have, when the commissioner questions why Gordon is even in the building. "I have a better question: Why are you here, commissioner?" Gordon replies. "This is the first I've seen you down here with the rank and file. You must be desperate."

Whatever Gordon might be hinting at, one thing's for sure: The commissioner has no use for his insubordination. Which, as the clip reveals, could mean trouble for Bullock as well!
