Colin Farrell and Taylor Kitsch are reportedly in talks for True Detective Season 2, according to TheWrap.

Farrell, who recently appeared in Seven Psychopaths and Saving Mr. Banks, might not be the box office draw he once was, but he would fall in line with what HBO President Michael Lombardo recently promised regarding the show's cast.

"The people who we will cast will be well-known names. Great writing attracts great actors," Lombardo said at the Television Critics Association's fall previews on Thursday.

Emmys: Snubs and surprises
Kitsch is best known for Friday Night Lights and the box office disappointments Battleship and John Carter. He recently received praise for his performance in HBO's The Normal Heart, but was the only main actor from the TV movie not to receive an Emmy nomination.

Creator Nic Pizzolatto revealed in the spring that Season 2 of the anthology series, which received 12 Emmy nominations, would feature three leads, likely with at least one of them being female. But on Thursday, he told The Daily Beast that there will now be four leads.

"That ballooned a little bit," he said. "I would say there are four central roles."

Do you hope Farrell and Kitsch join True Detective? Who else would you cast?
