You Can't Go Home Again Reviews

This made-for-TV adaptation of Thomas Wolfe's literary classic revolves around the struggles of young writer George Webber (Chris Sarandon) --a thinly veiled version of Wolfe himself -- determined to be a success in New York's literary world of the 1920s, and brilliant editor Foxhall Edwards (Hurd Hatfield, star of the 1945 THE PICTURE OF DORIAN GRAY), who sees a talented novelist who might just be something more. Webber's life in complicated by his relationship with the married Esther Jack (Lee Grant). Edwards and Jack are thinly veiled stand-ins for Wolfe's real-life editor, Maxwell Perkins, stage designer Aline Bernstein, with whom he had a volatile affair.
