Who Says I Can't Ride a Rainbow! Reviews

This charming children's film features Jack Klugman as Barney Marcovitz, who is convinced that the hope of the world lies with its young people. Barney runs a pony farm/petting zoo on a small plot of land in Manhattan so that city kids can encounter animals they might otherwise see only on television. His plans are upset when the real estate company that owns the property wants to put up a housing complex. The neighborhood rallies around him to no avail, so Barney gives his animals to the neighborhood kids with some amusing results (two youngsters have the unusual experience of trying to keep a pony hidden from their parents) until finally he is able to relocate to the Bronx. The film's potential for sentimentality is high, but luckily the filmmakers never stoop to the obvious, and the result is a warm-hearted, if rather slow-moving, tale.
