Who Done It? Reviews

One of Abbott and Costello's better outings finds them as a pair of would-be radio mystery writers who work as soda jerks. Their place of employment is in the same building as a major broadcasting studio, and, when a network president is murdered, the two pose as detectives. Surprisingly, everyone believes them to be private eyes, but problems arise when Bendix, a cop who is even dumber than Costello, bungles their already bungled work. The film includes a riotous chase that finds Costello dangling high above the ground on the radio station's aerial. There are some good laughs with old A&C routines worked handily into the script. As a screen comedy team, Abbott and Costello were passable at best but occasionally showed moments of brilliance. WHO DONE IT? contains its fair share of those moments, aided, no doubt, by the absence of musical numbers which tended to get in the way of the jokes.
