Warlords of the 21st Century Reviews

As in MAD MAX, its sequels, and its imitations (of which this film is another), BATTLETRUCK takes place when civilization as we know it is over, with no fuel to be found. An outlaw army led by James Wainwright, however, does have the huge truck of the title and somehow has the gasoline to run it, but Wainwright's daughter, Annie McEnroe, will have none of her father's villainous takeover schemes. She departs and moves into a tranquil community with a new companion, Michael Beck, prompting Wainwright to try to take revenge on the peaceniks. The actors are good, and the movie is filled with action, though not as speed-crazed as any of the Mel Gibson-George Miller movies. Made in New Zealand on a small budget, BATTLETRUCK looks better than similar chase films done in the US.
