Wake Up and Dream Reviews

Dull musical starring Columbo, Pryor, and Knight as members of a vaudeville trio trying to make it big. The men both love Knight, but in the end she chooses Columbo just as he is about to bow out of the picture. A tragic footnote: popular singer Columbo was killed in a bizarre shooting accident shortly after filming was completed. Some sources state that Columbo was at the home of a friend who struck a match on one of a pair of dueling pistols that were being used as decorative paperweights on a desk and accidentally fired the gun (which was supposed to have been empty). The bullet ricocheted off the desk and struck Columbo in the head, killing him. Songs include "Too Beautiful for Words" (Bernie Grossman, Russ Columbo, Jack Stern), "When You're in Love," "Wake Up and Dream," and "Let's Pretend" (Grossman, Stern, Grace Hamilton).
