Tilt Reviews

Producer-director-cowriter Rudy Durand waited 10 years to make this dull Shields film. The story revolves around skillful pinball players, and the only interesting thing about it is the fairly remarkable point-of-view shots from inside the pinball machine. Shields stars as an expert pinball player who hooks up with aspiring rock star Marshall and joins him on a cross-country adventure, seeking fame and fortune. Eventually the pair enter an intense game of high-stakes pinball with bar owner and pinball champ Durning. While some of the pinball scenes manage to generate a bit of excitement, most of the film is slow and dull, with little wit and lots of bad performances--except for Durning, who, as usual, is superb.
