The Young Warriors Reviews

A group of naive young men goes off to fight in this trivial war picture, each reacting in his own way to the horrors he encounters. Carlson is at first stunned by it all but soon turns into a sadistic killer. He's rebuked by sergeant Drury (giving the film's best performance) for gunning down a surrendering German. Carlson redeems himself later by rescuing the sergeant under dangerous circumstances, and the two become postwar friends. The direction is perfunctory, but the camerawork is surprisingly good, disguising the film's weaker elements.
