The Wife of General Ling Reviews

When British armaments are being smuggled into China it's up to Secret Service agent Jones to find out who's behind it all. Russian actor Inkijinoff plays a wealthy Chinese merchant-philanthropist who is the the main suspect. Jones theorizes that Inkijinoff is in cahoots with General Ling, a noted Chinese warlord-terrorist, not realizing that the two are one and the same. Renn plays Inkijinoff's wife, who once was a sweetheart of Jones. When she finds out what her husband has been doing, she helps her old flame rig a trap. Inkijinoff is killed and the two former lovers rekindle their romance. Despite the unbelievable coincidences within the plot structure this is a tight, well-made picture. Inkijinoff is strong as the villain, a performance matched by Jones's characterization. The direction has good pacing, helped greatly by some smartly written dialog.
