Highly suspenseful yarn about a rookie newspaper reporter, Martin, who discovers a book-forging racket almost immediately after being assigned to cover the morgue. She tells her findings to the more established Fowley, and the two expose the schemers. Evans is in the plot as romantic interest for Fowley; otherwise she spends her time singing in nightclubs, doing one song for the cameras: "It's Not the First Love" (Eddie Maxwell, Nathan Scott).
