The Trap Reviews

After three years in the Canadian wilderness of the 19th century, Reed, a trapper, comes back to civilization intending to find a wife. He has missed the auction of a cast-off woman, so he takes a trader's mute housekeeper, Tushingham. She serves him well, taking care of him when his leg is caught in a trap. But she realizes this life is not for her, so after she amputates his leg she returns to the settlement. Reed discovers he really loved her, but Tushingham in the meantime is set to marry the trader's clerk. On the big day, though, she doesn't show up; she has headed back into the woods with Reed.
