The Super Cops Reviews

Falling somewhere between THE FRENCH CONNECTION and SERPICO, THE SUPER COPS is a cartoonlike action film based on the true-life exploits of two New York City cops who were dubbed "Batman and Robin" by the press. Fighting red tape and harassment by their peers, Leibman and Selby go after the pushers and dope dealers in the Bedford-Stuyvesant ghetto. Using unorthodox methods, including the help of sympathetic prostitute Frazier, the two make a record number of arrests. Direction is fast and furious with good performances by Leibman and Selby. Their interpretation of the roles gives the action a necessary realistic edge that gives the story credibility. Watch for Greenberg and Hantz, the two real-life supercops, in bit parts as detectives.
