The Sultan's Daughter Reviews

This film's silly premise has sometime ecdysiast Corio as the daughter an Arab sultan and the object of American Norris' romantic desires. During WW II, an agent for the German government is after the sultan's oil fields and tries to go behind his back by making a deal with Bonanova, the sultan's right-hand man. Corio walks through her role in a stiff manner--strange for a stripper--providing none of the warmth the role called for. Irene and Tim Ryan are around to provide the laughs, but they are not given enough of a chance. Monogram's mini-moguls had announced their intention of upgrading their product beyond their customary quickie westerns; this was one of the first results of that decision. Songs include: "I'm Always the Girl," "The Sultan's Daughter," "Clickety-Clack-Jack," and "I'd Love to Make Love to You."
