A trio of prison dramas, the best being "The Chef," with Slezak as a discontented prison cook who gets framed by a fellow inmate with a taste for fine cuisine. Ireland, Tierney, and Talbot are cast in "The Hostages," a tale about a failed prison break and the bloodshed that follows. The final tale, "The Face," stars Tobey as a painter who finds God through his encounters with priest Franz. Sequel: DUFFY OF SAN QUENTIN (1954).
