The Revolt of the Slaves Reviews

Fleming is again used in a role typical of the numerous Hollywood outings in which she played the nasty girl with a heart of gold underneath her tough exterior. In this tale of the persecution of the Christians during the later years of the Roman Empire, she plays the daughter of a wealthy patrician. Her father buys a Christian slave who refuses to take to the ring and wrestle. An infuriated Fleming whips the poor man but turns around and falls in love with him when it seems that the Christians are in for some hard times at the hands of the empire. She also discovers that some people whom she never suspected, including her cousin, are turning out to be Christians. Some interesting facts about the beginnings of Christianity are revealed in this costume drama.
