The Moralist Reviews

An amusing farce centering on exploitive politicians in a corrupt government. Sordi is appointed by the president (De Sica) to head the censorship board--but only because De Sica sees him as a possible husband for his daughter. The well-meaning Sordi approaches his new position with moralistic dedication and quickly closes nightclubs that he sees as a menace. When he falls in love with a striptease artist while away on a government function, he brings the woman back to his country, meeting with an indignant response from De Sica because Sordi is now no longer an eligible husband for the president's daughter. Sordi loses his job, and the slight efforts he made for change are quickly undone.
