The Lonely Man Reviews

Seventeen years after deserting his family, Palance decides to put his gunbelt on the shelf and make peace with his son, Perkins. But Perkins blames his father for his mother's death, and Palance has a hard time winning his son back. Palance's enemies don't want to forget the past either, including Brand as a gambler looking to kill Palance for taking his woman. Van Cleef is Brand's henchman, and Middleton is a gunfighter whose allegiance shifts from Brand to Palance. Action is put on the back burner to concentrate on Palance's and Perkins' relationship, and on Palance's struggle to escape his past and start anew. Based on the 1941 film SHEPHERD OF THE HILLS.
