The Lemon Drop Kid Reviews

Hope is a racetrack bookie who gets in trouble with a big-time gangster (Nolan) whom he tips on a sure thing. The gangster puts down a large sum of money and loses, then wants his money back, or Hope's head. The rest of the film focuses on the bookie's attempts to get the dough. Hope works well as a fast-talking bookie and the comic situations he's thrown in are hilarious. He also played the radio version of the Lemon Drop Kid. Songs include "Silver Bells," "It Doesn't Cost a Dime to Dream," "They Obviously Want Me to Sing" (Ray Evans, Jay Livingston).
