The Killer Is Loose Reviews

Corey is a bank clerk nicknamed "Foggy" because of his thick glasses. He's the inside man for a group of bank robbers, but their plan is thwarted. During his arrest, his wife is accidently shot and killed. Corey blames arresting officer Cotten; it is revealed at his trial that Corey wants to even the score by killing Cotten's wife, Fleming. Corey is convicted but becomes a model prisoner. He is sent to a minimum security prison farm and soon escapes. Prison life has changed the man; he is now a raging psychotic and takes several hostages. Cotten tries to get the police to protect Fleming, but she is used as bait to lure Corey into a trap. He stalks and almosts kills her but is shot down in the nick of time. The direction is undistinguished but effective, and the art direction gives the film a nice look. Corey is fine in his role as the man driven over the edge. Boetticher directed THE RISE AND FALL OF LEGS DIAMOND as well as several Randolph Scott westerns.
