The House of Mystery Reviews

A group of people are gathered together for a weekend at the eerie mansion of a man who has stolen priceless jewels from a Hindu temple. Their reason for assembling is to have a chance at a portion of these gems, but a curse surrounding the killing of a sacred ape creates an atmosphere ripe for murder. Though the mystery angle is overly predictable, it provides for the necessary chills and added laughs. In his only screen appearance, Lowry stars as an insurance investigator, a guest at the house. The film's lack of success prompted him to return to the stage and radio. An odd performance for lovable Hayes has him playing one of the menacing heavies.
