The World War II misadventures of a U.S. intelligence officer whose wooing of a comely lieutenant is interrupted when he is charged with bringing in a lone Japanese hold-out on an island that was taken by American forces many months earlier.

The fifth teaming of romantic-comedy duo Hutton and Prentiss comes up a misfire. Hutton is an accident-prone lieutenant given the task of flushing out a harmless Japanese soldier who is hiding in the brush and stealing supplies on a recaptured island in 1944. While Hutton dashes around the island trying to spring traps on the Japanese, he also tries to find time to romance Army nurse Prentiss. He eventually traces the Japanese soldier to his hiding place but is knocked unconscious in the scuffle, forcing Prentiss to make the capture. In the end, Hutton not only gets all the credit for the job but Prentiss as well.
