The Hitcher II: I've Been Waiting Reviews

Reviewed By: Jeremy Wheeler

C. Thomas Howell is back once again in this knock-off sequel to the Eric Red cult classic road thriller The Hitcher. This time, Rutger Hauer is nowhere to be seen, and neither is Red's well-penned script. Instead, audiences are forced to watch Jake Busey grinning his way through a truly uninspired psychotic role, and straight-to-video queen Kari Wuhrer stumbling through her best Linda Hamilton impression. Howell, whose freaked-out performance was the backbone of the original, here turns his "acting" skills up to 20 and ends up over-doing it throughout his entire 40 minutes of screentime (you heard right, 40 minutes!). Working off of a terrible sequel premise, director Louis Morneau's shots look decent enough, but his always-moving camera comes off as more of a distraction than a stylistic touch. Fans of the original beware -- this schlock is B-grade through and through. If you're driving by, don't pick this Hitcher up; it'll only ruin your night.
