The Hellfire Club Reviews

This 18th-century drama features Michell as the young son of Faulds, an infamous lecher, leader of the notorious Hellfire Club. When the boy is whipped because he accidentally walks in on an orgy being held by his father, his mother, finally fed up with Faulds' debauchery, flees with her son. Soon after, she is killed in a coach accident. The boy is raised by family retainer Lodge. Years later, with the help of his attorney, Cushing, Michell (who has become a circus acrobat) returns to the estate of his father to reclaim it, only to be fought violently by his cousin, Arne, who has carried on the seedy traditions of his uncle. The cousin kidnaps Michell's childhood sweetheart, Fisher, forcing Michell to pursue and mortally wound him in a duel, thus regaining his estate and his love. For some reason, the prints released in America were struck on black-and-white stock.
