The Giant of Metropolis Reviews

Thanks to HERCULES (1959) star Steve Reeves, Italian muscleman movies became quite popular in the early 1960s. This one features Mitchell as the hunk hero without the shirt. He travels to an above-sea-level Atlantis where he is confronted by the immortal Cortez and his magnetic death ray. Cortez is bent on ruling sadistically, but Mitchell stops him. The battle is destructive enough to send Atlantis gurgling under the ocean waters. Some interesting sets, as well as bizarre torture rituals, put this film a cut above the rest. Released in Italy in 1961
