Teng (Chen Kaun-tai) is a bodyguard for a Chinese emperor. When he is mistakenly accused of a crime, he is forced to flee for his life. The emperor's men track him down, but Teng manages to escape. This is a fine example of a kung fu film done without the camp qualities that usually permeate such fare. The direction holds tension well, maintaining suspense down to the final moments. The photography is also a cut above most kung fu films, with good performances by the cast; the result is an exciting adventure tale.
