The Duke Comes Back Reviews

Contrived melodrama starring James as a championship prizefighter who retires from the ring to marry uppercrust, old-money gal Angel. This outrages Angel's father, Burton, but he eventually reconsiders and sets the boxer up with his other daughter, who is in the publishing business. Everything is swell until Burton gets in trouble to the tune of $200,000 when he messes with other people's trust funds. Being a good and noble son-in-law, James returns to the ring to win the money to bail out his wife's old man. Another version of this story was made as DUKE OF CHICAGO in 1949.
