Four boys in New York's Hell's Kitchen make a pact that they will meet once a year for the rest of their lives to renew their friendship. Their plans are altered when the youths accidentally set fire to a warehouse and McLaglen takes the rap and is sent to reform school. Years later, now a professional gambler and owner of a nightclub, he is reunited with his friends, Gargan and Gallaudet (who are now policemen), when they show up in his club to investigate the murder of one of McLaglen's debtors. While investigating the crime, Gallaudet is killed, and Kelly, now a priest, sees that justice is served.
