The Beast Must Die Reviews

A dull, talky attempt to combine a werewolf movie with THE MOST DANGEROUS GAME, THE BEAST MUST DIE concerns a millionaire big-game hunter (Lockhart) who invites an odd assortment of guests to his English manor. Believing one of his guests to be a werewolf, the millionaire plans to unmask the monster and then hunt him down. The only point of interest here is a William Castle-type gimmick, introduced in the prolog, which informs viewers that they have been chosen as detectives who must deduce the identity of the werewolf, using clues sprinkled through the film. Later, there is a 30-second break in the action during which the audience is to guess who the werewolf is. We wouldn't want to spoil what little fun there is here by giving the answer away. A rather sorry excuse for a horror film--even Peter Cushing's distinguished presence doesn't help.
