The Admiral Was a Lady Reviews

O'Brien and three out-of-work vet buddies all chase Hendrix after she walks into their social club looking for a lost boy friend who is being chased for wrongdoing by Vallee, a jukebox tycoon. Hendrix, a pert and funny WAVE, is disgusted by the fact that O'Brien, Sands, Erdman, and Brodie have vowed never to work again; she shuns their clumsy advances, which makes for some laughable scenes. To win her heart, O'Brien climbs into a boxing ring to face a professional fighter in order to win a $100 purse, a funny scene in which he just barely manages to avoid being pulverized. It's apparent from the beginning that O'Brien will wind up with Hendrix but the chase is worth the watching. Songs include: "Once Over Lightly" and "Everything That's Wonderful" (Al Stewart, Earl Rose).
