During WW II a group of French commandos returning from a successful raid on a German depot kidnap a German officer and take his patrol car. They set out across blistering North Africa dodging mines along the way and building a strong camaraderie with the German, even though one of them is Jewish. They near their camp but are attacked by their own troops, who believe them to be the advancing enemy. Only Ventura survives.
