Taiyo o Nusunda Otoko Reviews

In this black comedy Japanese pop idol Kenji Sawada is a science teacher who builds an atomic bomb in his apartment and threatens to use it if the government doesn't meet his strange demands. He wants the Rolling Stones to be allowed to give a rock concert, even though they aren't allowed in Japan because of their drug arrest records. He also demands that the TV networks broadcast baseball games to their end, rather than cutting them off at the strict Japanese closedown times. The teacher doesn't get his demands, and he is pursued throughout the movie by detective Bunta Sugawara. In the process he falls in love with a crazy disc jockey. Unfortunately, this New Wave Japanese picture runs out of steam before the finale, allowing for ridiculous plot turns and a curt ending. (In Japanese; English subtitles.)
