Sweethearts on Parade Reviews

Middleton and Shirley are part of a traveling medicine show that finds itself in the town of Middleton's former sweetheart, Norman, mother to budding young beauty Christy. The girl soon becomes interested in the spectacle of the medicine show, and especially in her father's partner, Shirley. An overabundance of songs, awkwardly inserted into the plot, hampers the development. Songs include: "You Naughty, Naughty Man" (I. Kennick, G. Bicknell), "Young Love" (Von Suppe), "Romance" (Anton Rubenstein), "Ah, So Pure" (Flotow, Kathleen Mavourneen), "If" (F. Crouch), "Blue Juniata" (M.D. Sullivan), "Mating Time" (Strauss), "In the Evening by the Moonlight" (James Bland), "Flow Gently Sweet Afton" (Spillman), "Molly Darling" (Will S. Hayes), "Regnava Nil Silencio" (Donizetti), "Sweet Genevieve" (George Cooper, Henry Tucker), "Nelly Bly" (Stephen Foster), "Extension for Romance" (Robert Armbruster), "Then You'll Remember Me" (M.W. Balfe), "Ah Non Guin Ge" (V. Bellini), "I Wish I Was Single Again" "Ah, Rovin'," "Wanderin'," "Cindy," and "Love Is a Pain."
