Starship Invasions Reviews

The same year STAR WARS was released, this low-budget sci-fi hit the screens, minus the technical proficiency of George Lucas but with much of the spirit. The lack of funds coincided with the filmmaker's desire to pay homage to the 1940s serials produced by Republic--the film employs little synchronous dialog, a great deal of head nodding and facial expression, and vintage flying saucers. The familiar plot has a group of aliens led by Lee hovering above the Earth with the intention of finding a settlement. They kidnap UFO scientist Vaughn and force him to help with the invasion. An unspectacular space battle occurs as the good guys (dressed in white) beat the bad guys (dressed in black) and restore harmony.
