A familiar story about a convict who is released from jail and prevented from leading a decent life because his past keeps catching up with him. There is little new here in terms of plot, but a heartfelt performance by Russell adds a needed spark. Accompanied by his 10-year-old son, Russell wanders around the country in search of a job. He twice finds himself well situated, only to have his prison record discovered and get fired. In desperation he contacts an old prison friend to accompany him on a scheme to kidnap an oilman's son. The story ends tragically, with Russell dying while trying to save his own son's life.
