Snow Treasure Reviews

A stilted and unexciting WW II children's adventure tale, SNOW TREASURE concerns Norwegian youngsters who smuggle some gold in their backpacks to a boat manned by the Norwegian underground. Twelve-year-old Austad watches as the booty is hidden away in a snowy cave during the early days of the Nazi invasion of Norway. He devises a plan with his friends to smuggle it to the hideout of his uncle, Oyen, a member of the Resistance. Billed above the title is James Franciscus, who has a relatively small role as a German soldier who discovers the Norwegians' game but offers help rather than reporting it back to the authorities. More enjoyable for youngsters than adults, SNOW TREASURE will, at the very least, give its young viewers some sense of history.
