Ski Party Reviews

Take away the sand and replace it with snow, it's still the same old formula for Avalon. He and Hickman (far from his heyday as television's hipster "Dobie Gillis") are a couple of college guys who can't figure out why their girls (Walley and Craig) are attracted to the stodgy Kincaid. Everyone heads off to a ski lodge, where Avalon and Hickman take up cross dressing to find out what Kincaid's appeal is. Of course Kincaid can't figure out the ruse and flirts away. But this is no SOME LIKE IT HOT. The humor is weak, but kind of fun. The direction is quickly paced, never making more out of the material than need be. Even Avalon's old beach bunny Funicello pops in for a few moments. Performances by Brown and Gore are the best things going in this film. Songs include "Lots, Lots More" (Ritchie Adams, Larry Kusik), "Paintin' the Town" (Bob Gaudio), "We'll Never Change Them" (Guy Hemric, Jerry Styner, sung by Deborah Walley, Styner), "Ski Party" (Gary Usher, Roger Christian), "I Got You (I Feel Good)" (performed by James Brown and the Famous Flames), and other songs by Howard Liebling, Ted Wright, and Marvin Hamlisch.
