Sing Boy Sing Reviews

Minor pop star Sands makes a successful screen debut in this JAZZ SINGER-styled story which serves as a showcase for his talents. He's a successful rock star with a $300,000-a-year income and a pushy agent (O'Brien) and press agent (Paris). But his dying grandfather (McIntire) is an old-time preacher who tells the boy his life is full of sin. The old man dies and Sands, overwhelmed by guilt, takes to preaching. But his heart isn't in it, and finally he returns to the rock life after his aunt (Hutchinson) convinces him that one should always use the gifts given to him by God. Originally this had been a Kraft TV Playhouse drama before being transferred to the big screen. Songs include: "Rock of Ages," "Sing, Boy, Sing," "Gonna Talk with My Lord," "Who Baby?" "Crazy 'Cause I Love You," "Bundle of Dreams," "Your Daddy Wants to Do Right," "Just a Little Bit More," "That's All I Want from You," "People in Love," "Soda-Pop Song," "Would I Love You."
