Signore e Signori Buonanotte Reviews

A fragmentary movie with several different segments written and directed by a variety of Italian talents. All of the stories are witty looks at Italian political and social life. One of the standout segments--"The Bomb," directed by Monicelli--is a political satire that sees a silly bomb scare at a police station snowball into an actual terrorist plot wherein the commissioner is blown to bits. Other segments include a satire on the CIA and a look at Christmas in Naples through the eyes of a child who sees all the public officials participating in the ceremonies as pompous and eccentric. The whole thing is cemented through the use of an Italian Broadcasting Corp. news show that introduces each segment and is anchored by Mastroianni.
