Seven Keys to Baldpate Reviews

The fifth and last version of the Earl Derr Biggers novel about a writer who must finish his novel in 24 hours and sets up shop in the remote Baldpate Inn to do it. But peace and quiet are not to be found for Terry. He's made a bet with the inn's owner that he'll finish the book, so the owner sets out to make sure he doesn't, though White, the owner's secretary, tries to be as helpful to Terry as her boss is not. While the owner is trying to frighten Terry into writer's block, a gang of jewel thieves arrive at the inn to split the profits of their latest heist. With all this going on around him, Terry finds himself in a number of situations that keep him from his typewriter. Jack Haley was supposed to play the writer but refused to do so, which caused the cancellation of his contract with RKO. RKO's two earlier versions of this film were released in 1930 and 1935, with two silent versions filmed in 1917 and 1925.
