Wilson plays a suicidal writer who is saved from death by friendly newspaper editor Withers and given a job on his paper. She soon becomes involved in a mysterious plot that involves the smuggling of Chinese workers. The clues take her to the heart of Chinatown, where she gets her scoop. The merger of Invincible Pictures and Chesterfield Motion Picture Corp. in 1932 created a company which, in its heyday, turned out one picture a month. The team's movies usually were filmed on rented sets at Universal City. Use of Universal's collection of authentic Oriental properties gave SECRETS OF WU SIN an elaborate appearance beyond what its budget would have allowed.
